Photography Workshops

Whether you are just getting your feet wet in the world of photography or want to hone your burgeoning skills, Frank’s workshops combine vision, style and technical proficiency to help you capture life’s extraordinary moments.

Beginning Workshops

One weekend each year, Frank opens up his personal studio on Whidbey Island, Washington to conduct an introductory photography workshop to a small group of students.

This three-day hands-on learning experience will empower you to feel confident behind the lens, discover your personal style and quite simply, take better pictures.

For maximum participation and attention, each workshop is limited to 12 students, with attendees from previous courses on-site to provide mentoring and assistance. Students will understand photography essentials, including:

– photo composition
– camera settings and controls
– portrait lighting
– using software to organize photos
– processing photographs
– the art of photo printing

Course attendees will get hands-on with their cameras, taking excursions to Whidbey Island locales to shoot still and moving elements.

Photography Tours

Following the beginning workshop, students can continue their artful journeys on destination photography tours in surroundings rich with natural beauty.

In 2010, students spent a week shooting images on the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy. In 2013 students experienced the sunlit savannahs of Africa on a photographic Safari. In 2015 the students returned to the Serengeti and added the Ngorongoro Crater to their adventures.
